Reflections: Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard Nantucket School-To-Careers Partnership and Cape Cod Museum of Art Art Internship Program

Above is the final product of my art piece for the museum which will be hung for everyone to see. I worked in a museum as a intern helping to registrar's prepare for all the incoming work for the year, keep track of what was already in there etc.. I learned exactly what happens and how the museum runs which in my opinion could not be don without the registrars since they keep track of everything. My goal was to learn what exactly they do and basically be a registrar with them for the duration of the internship and work on the piece above. My plan which I did was to take from memory two sunsets I'd seen before and make a piece out of them out of oil pastels that'd be scientific in a sense. The top one is slimmer since the day and night are not always equal. I decided to incorporate trees because to me represent life. I also decided to make them vertical so they appeared touchable and it looks like they're coming at the viewer. I also named piece, "Soles occidere et redire possunt" from the poem Catullus 5 meaning 'Suns are able to set and return' which is pretty self explanatory once looking at the piece. I feel I meant my learning outcome goals which were considering ethical implications of my actions and developing new skills during my internship. I was able to meet my first goal because I had a strong relationship with the other two registrars because the only way to operate is by working as one unit which I had to do in order for us to prepare for all the incoming work. Also by doing this I got to see over 200 hundred different artists from all different time periods, art movements etc, which essentially helped me and guided me in my art making process since I had the inspiration from all these artists and their work. In my case this was a service while for the registrars it was there job and their life lot and lots of collaboration happened which I interrupted ethics as working with others which I did. While I feel I completed the other learning outcome goal because I developed new skills which included computer skills, researching skills, people skills, and overall artist skills. I learned how to make data bases and use the Museum's data base to create logs etc.. and check in work that is in coming in the museum. Also researching skills such as researching the life and deaths of artists and once again everything that came into the museum. People skills which are basically talking and communicating with all new people and people I'd never spoken too before. And my artist skills definitely improved because I learned more on techniques, different artists, and basically naming pieces. I basically learned from this experience and internship that new things are good try because in a way they will always benefit you with life experience in my case it helped me learn the trades of registrars and umtimately get my artwork put in a museum.

Reflections: Creative Writing Club

I had plan or attempted to write a poem, which I did. Then send it to the CWC and have them critique it to the point I felt it was ready to send to Miss.Fenney and attempt to have it published in the Sturgian. And basically get over my fear of the public seeing my inner thoughts and works. I did just that, I sent the CWC my first poem which they helped me revise it a great deal especially the grammatically and poetically. They were very helpful and I had the right motivation from them and the eagerness and ambition to get over my anxieties. After a few rewrites I sent it into Miss.Fenney who also gave me help to prefect it to be the poem I had envisioned but had so much trouble getting to be that way alone. It was then published and many people at the school had read the poem and enjoyed it and had positive and negative criticism which is all i wanted to help me progress as a writer and poet. One of my two learning outcome goals was increase awareness in my own strengths and areas of growth with without I completed and was a outcome because I basically learn to write something from scratch and learned the tricks and trades of writing poetry. I feel after this whole experience I had the ability to do this all along but never given the right opportunity to prove it to myself and everyone else. I also feel like this was the reason I was able to get over my fears of the public seeing my work and had a successful time doing this. I also meet my other learning outcome goal of showing perseverance and commitment because I was committed to keep revising and sending in my poem till it was perfected to what I wanted it to be gaining experience from everyone. Which also helped me help over aspiring writers such as myself. I showed perseverance because I refused to quit till my goal as completed. The knowledge I ultimately gained life experience, that I have the skills and strengths to write poems and I have the strength to share it with the world, whether it be by helping others who aspire to do what I did or helping myself keep on this track. POEM THAT WAS PUBLISHED BELOW:
In her honor.

There was a time,

Where she’s lived through death and despair,

Without shedding a single tear,

She’s mourned and regretted,

That day when she lost her most beloved.

Not only has she overcome loss,

Like Dresden, she is a survivor.

She’s been put under with anesthetics,

Put under the knife, cut open, and healed

She wears these scars as medals of Honor,

To show her true colors.

But this time something has attacked her inside,

9 years of pain,

It reigned,

Supreme in all its might,

Despite her desperate fight,

She’s bled and fought hard.

The honor is almost all gone.

The blood has dried but I can’t tell who has won:

The death,

Or her.

She emerges with new scars,
Black and blue trying to heal itself,
She wears these new scars with pride,
Put into her collection of them,
To show her honor.

Film Club

Today was a HUGE learning experience for us. For instance we printed out scripts for everyone and we all took a role, mine was pessimistic and paranoid then read over the lines to see how it flows. We found a lot of mistakes that made our script very very choppy. We though we were ready to submit our script to Mrs.Botsford so she could help us cast it but we need to go back to the drawing board in a way and put our heads back together. I've shared the document with you so you can see what I'm referring too when I say we need to work on our script more.

Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard Nantucket School-To-Careers Partnership and Cape Cod Museum of Art Art Internship Program

Wednesday was my final day at the art museum for the internship. I looked up all the schools on Cape Cod and the Islands' information so we can inform them about the intern program next year. Also I made labels for all the art work that is coming in this month for the interns show. Mine is all ready and ready to hang. I am very excited about the show which will be May 13th from 5:30 to 7:30.
